SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR

It is time once again for the Scholastic Book Fair!  In just less than a month from now, we will transform our library into a fun and festive book store, just in time for holiday gift giving.
Below is a link to the our Hoover Book Fair homepage.  About midway down you will see “We are Looking for Volunteers”, and a sign up button.  So please, take a moment and click on the sign up button to see if there may be a time, or multiple times, that you could help out.  All help is greatly appreciated.
If you can’t volunteer, please still take a moment and check out the book fair homepage, where you will find the scheduled days of the on site fair, and the dates of and link to our online book fair.

HOOVER WALK/RUN CLUB

We are kicking off the AHA Club!  AHA stands for Active Hoover Athletes and that is what this running/walking club will encourage students to be!
Every Tuesday and Thursday during morning recess, all students will have the option to run or walk laps with their punch card.  As their progress is recorded, they will be able to earn recognition for the distances they cover.  Down the road we will kick up the fun with friendly class competitions and maps to show the school’s progress.  This is a fun way to encourage the kids to be active.
Volunteers are needed to help the AHA Club be an ongoing success for students!  We need volunteers to help record student laps on Tuesday and Thursday during the morning recess.  You can sign up to do it once in a while or on a regular basis – YOUR CHOICE!  This is a great way to volunteer if you don’t have a lot of time or have small children at home with you during the school day.  Please follow the link to choose some times to help out!

Hoover 4th & 5th Grade Fine Arts Night

On Tuesday, December 4th we will be hosting our 4th & 5th Grade Fine Arts Night from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the Hoover gym and art room.

4th and 5th grade students will share music with their families.  Each 4th and 5th grader will also have a piece of artwork on display.  Families should come ready for a night of musical fun as you join your child in experiencing music.

We look forward to seeing you! It will be a night of music and art that you don’t want to miss!

Later in the school year we will be having a 2nd and 3rd Grade Fine Arts Night as well as a Kdg and 1st Grade Fine Arts Night.  Stay tuned!

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE CHANGES

Starting on Monday, November 5th, we will be rebooting our Before School Care (Morning Care) program here at Hoover Elementary.

The program will continue to open at 7:40 a.m. (please do not drop students off early).

The flier linked below shares information on how our rebooted program will work.  We are excited about the new plan and the new opportunities this will provide for kids to have access to calmer areas, purposeful activities, as well as a chance to get active movement before the start of the school day.

The biggest change for our Kdg and 1st grade families to be aware of is that their students will go directly to the library in the morning (unless they are having breakfast in the gym first and then going to the library afterward).

Winter Box Tops Competition

Our Winter Box Top Contest Starts Monday, November 12th! The contest will run for 3 months, enough time for you to clip and collect plenty of Box Tops from friends and family!  Details and collections sheets were sent home in folders today.

Here’s how the contest works:

  1. Clip your Box Tops (check date to make sure they aren’t expired)
  2. Glue them on the sheet provided or collect them in ziplock bags with your TEACHER’S name labeled on it so your class gets credit.
  3. Turn them in to the Box Top mailbox located in the lobby.
  4. The winning class will have a celebration in February!

Good luck and happy clipping!!
