HPTO International Night – Sign Up to Host a Booth!

Our annual International Night is coming Friday, January 25th International Night is a wonderful event where our community comes together to celebrate the amazing the amazing and vast diversity we have here at Hoover! International Night is a fun, free, family-friendly event for everyone.  Please see the attached flier for more information!

Attending International Night is encouraged for all Hoover students and their families; it is a great way for our children to learn about their peers and celebrate each other! That evening each child will get a passport.  They will take this passport around from booth to booth, collecting a stamp, while learning about each country.

Please sign up to host a booth! What makes International Night so special is the families who sign up to “host” a booth to share information, items, clothing, food, and more about another country that is special to them.  Countries can be special to families for many different reasons; it may be a country:

  • You or a family member were born in
  • You or a family member have lived in
  • That has special place of importance to you or your family

In addition to the family “booths”, there will also be a talent show that showcases other cultures music, dance instruments, and even poetry.

If you are interested in participating, either by hosting a booth or performing in the cultural talent show, email our International Night Coordinator, Britney Harris, at harrisbm0@gmail.com

HOOVER WALK/RUN CLUB

The AHA (Active Hoover Athletes) Club kicked off about a month ago and has been going strong!  We already have 13 members of the 10-mile club!  We also have two classes that have (cumulatively) each run over 50 miles!

AHA Club is a running/walking club during morning recess every Tuesday and Thursday on both playgrounds. Kinders through 5th graders run/walk laps, getting a hole punch on their tracking card for every lap. There is a bulletin board in the lobby where students will get recognition for distances.

Volunteers (to punch students cards as the finish their laps) are at the heart of the AHA Club success! You can sign up for just one morning or come every week for a regular shift. The newest round of shifts, starting in January, are now posted – please click this link and sign up to get involved!
