I recently read an article on the benefits of gratitude and kindness and how they impact everyone’s mental health. Next week is the first week of May and across the country it is Teacher/Staff Appreciation week.
I am offering you the opportunity to join me in showing appreciation for the tireless efforts of our Hoover team in connecting with students/families and finding new ways to support kids each day. Some ideas that may work for your family…
- Upload a post to SeeSaw with a short video or typed message of thanks – Classroom teachers can direct notes or videos to other staff such as Mrs. Cox, Mrs. Moses, Mrs. Roberts, Mr. Craig, and Mrs. Miller via SeeSaw
- Write a letter (old school style) to a staff member. All letters can be sent to
3838 NW Walnut Blvd.
Corvallis, OR 97330
- Send an Email to the staff member (firstname.lastname@example.org)
(As a teacher I had a keepsake box of notes from students and families that I would go back and reread when I needed a little pick me up – words of affirmation are priceless).
I have been asked by families about giving flowers, other small gifts, or pictures students have drawn (how families can get these items to staff). On Thursday, May 7, I will be at Hoover from 10 am – 2 pm. If you want to drop off items for staff during that window, this is the time to do so. Please label items clearly with the staff member’s name, and I will make sure they are distributed.
Thank you for joining me in giving a huge Howl of Appreciation for the entire team at Hoover!
